Seton Hill University relieved Head Football Coach, Joel Dolinski and his staff of their coaching duties effective November 11, 2012, concurrent with the University's move to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) of the NCAA Division II in 2013-2014. Defensive assistant Marcus Patton will remain with the team to lead the offseason workouts.
The University has expressed its appreciation for the contributions of Coach Dolinski to the program at Seton Hill but will focus now on a search for a new Head Football Coach who can lead the University's efforts to develop a competitive overall program in the University's new conference.
Dolinski led the Griffins for five seasons. In his first season the Griffins went 10-3 before falling to California (PA) in the NCAA Division II Regional Semifinals. Dolinski was named Pittsburgh Sports Report College Football Coach of the Year. Seton Hill finished second in the WVIAC that season and defeated American International in the first round of the NCAA Playoffs.
Since his first season, the Griffins have hit hard times, combining for a 4-40 overall mark and a 2-30 record in WVIAC play.
