Tailgating Guidelines

In order to provide a safe and supportive community, the following guidelines are in effect:

  • Alcohol is not permitted at any SHU sponsored athletic event.
  • Indoor space requests are subject to availability with academic programming taking precedence, and should indicate that it is for a tailgate/fan gathering. 
  • Tailgates may only occur in designated spaces (see below).
  • Tailgates may begin 90 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the contest and end 60 minutes after the contest has concluded.
  • All federal, state, and local laws must be followed.
 

M/W Soccer, M/W Lacrosse, and Field Hockey-Dick’s Sporting Goods Field

Tailgates and fan gatherings for these sports are permitted in the lower LECOM parking lot. Spaces are available on a first come first serve basis. Motorhomes/RV’s are not permitted to park in this lot. 
 
Indoor tailgates are permitted during inclement weather in the Boyle Science Center with approved room reservations made by University personnel.  Once approval is received, University personnel are then instructed to notify Campus Police via email at least 72 hours in advance.  Use of the Dietetics kitchen, food labs, unattended small appliances (crock pots, hot places, instapots, etc.) grills, and open fires are not permitted inside the Boyle Science Center.
 

Baseball and Softball

Tailgates and fan gatherings for these sports are permitted in the parking lot behind the Boyle Health Science Center, with the exception of the reserved parking spots. Motorhomes/RV’s are not permitted to park in this lot.

M/W Basketball, Volleyball, and Wrestling-McKenna Center

Tailgates are permitted on the patio (on the quad) outside of the McKenna Center. Grills and open fires are not permitted on the patio. Indoor tailgates are permitted during inclement weather in the McKenna Center with approved room reservations made by University personnel.  Once approval is received, University personnel are then instructed to notify Campus Police via email at least 72 hours in advance.  Unattended small appliances, grills, and open fires are not permitted indoors.
 

Football—Offutt Field

Tailgates are permitted only in the upper (paved) parking lot. The parking fee is $10 per vehicle. Motorhomes/RV’s are not permitted to park in this lot. Tailgates are not permitted in the gravel lot located behind the press box. Tailgates outside of Offutt Field are under the jurisdiction of the City of Greensburg and are subject to all city, state, and federal regulations.
