Box Score The Griffins rallied from 23 points down to tie the score at 47 but it wasn't enough as Fairmont scored a touchdown late for a 54-47 WVIAC victory on Saturday afternoon. Seton Hill falls to 0-8 on the season and 0-6 in WVIAC play.
Fairmont State scored the two lone touchdowns of the first quarter and added another early in the second quarter to jump out to a 20-0 lead. Seton Hill cut the lead to 20-7 on a 2 yard TD pass from Andrew Jackson to
DJ Carter with 10 minutes to play in the second. FSU then extended its lead back to 20 with 6:42 to play in the half.
Tyler Zimmer forced a safety to cut the lead to 27-9 and
Austin Recker recovered a fumble in the endzone just before the half and the Griffins entered the halftime break trailing 27-16.
After FSU received a penalty for a lengthy halftime show, the Griffins pulled out their bag of tricks and recovered the onside kick. Seven plays later Jackson found
Lance Williams with a 9 yard TD pass and
Niko Hall-Brown caught the 2 point conversion and the Griffins trailed 27-24. Fairmont State then scored the next three touchdowns and led 47-24 with just over 12 minutes to play in the game. Jackson then found
Mike Allen with a 46 yard bomb to cut the lead to 47-32 after
Eric Frye caught the 2 point conversion.
Johnathon Feagin then returned a fumble 63 yards and the Griffins trailed just 47-39 with over ten minutes remaining.
Darius Turner then recovered a fumble and after
Sean Kelley's two point conversion the game was tied at 47 with 8:36 to play. Neither team scored on their next possession and Fairmont State was then able to score with 1:36 to play to take a 54-47 lead. Jackson was picked off as the Griffins were driving to end the contest.
Andrew Jackson was 32-61 for 432 yards and 3 TDs.
DJ Carter pulled in 13 grabs for 138 yards and a TD.
