Head Coach Joel Dolinski has announced his signings for the Seton Hill 2010 recruiting class. The Griffins new additions include Running Back David Miller (North Huntingdon, PA/Greensburg Central Catholic), Safety Chad Bowman (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional), Defensive Lineman Mitch DeVall (Monroeville, PA/Gateway), Defensive Tackle Kyle Holin (McKeesport, PA/Serra Catholic), Outside Linebacker Tyler Houston (Spotslyvania, VA/Woodberry), Wide Receiver Avery Griffin (Baltimore City College/Baltimore, MD), Defensive Back Michael Sellers (Columbus Brookhaven/Columbus, OH), Offensive Lineman Austin Recker (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall/University of Richmond), Defensive Back Danilo Christian Bautista (San Diego, CA/Vista Murrieta/Mt San Jacinto College) and Defensive End Preston Lewis (Cleveland, OH/Cleveland Heights), Defensive Tackle Charles Deloney (Cleveland, OH/Cleveland Heights), Offensive Lineman Dylan Dzugan (Cheswick, PA/ Springdale), Quarterback Nick Bowling (Cleveland, OH/Garfield Heights), Defensive Lineman Kevin Ellis (Muncie, IN/Yorktown) and Defensive End Yannick Cudjoe-Virgil (Baltimore, MD/Towson)
Miller led Greensburg Central Catholic to a WPIAL championship and an appearance in the state finals during his senior season. David was named first team All State running back by the Associated Press and the PA Sporting News and was also named Western PA Small School Player of the Year. Miller was the WPIAL scoring leader during his junior and senior seasons and set many Greensburg CC records. He owns the single game rushing record (344 yards) and owns single season rushing (2,535 yards) and scoring (42 TDs _ 254 points). He has 4,035 career rushing yards and is only the second player at GCC to reach the 4,000 yard mark. Bowman was a three year starter and team captain at Franklin Regional where he led the Panthers to an 8-3 record in his senior season. Bowman was a two star ESPNU prospect and is the 140th ranked safety in the country. He was named first team All Greater Allegheny Conference on both sides of the ball last season. He rushed for 1,472 yards and 18 TDs and had 74 tackles and 6 pass breakups on defense. Chad was the leading rusher and scorer in the Greater Allegheny Conference. Bowman was named to First Team WTAE High School Playbook Team along with the Tribune Review Terrific 25 and Post Gazette FAB 22. Chad was the 38th best prospect in PA according to RIVALS.com and was invited to the US Army All American Football Combine in San Antonio, TX where he had the fourth fastest shuttle run time for defensive backs.
DeVall was an Honorable Mention All State player during his senior season at Gateway High School where he was a part of three WPIAL AAAA finalist teams. Mitch was a three time All Conference selection, earning first team honors during his senior season. DeVall is also a three time letterwinnner for the Gateway track and field teams where he throws the discus and javelin.
Holin earned All-Conference honors in both his Junior and Senior seasons in the Black Hills Conference of the WPIAL at the Defensive Tackle position. In the 2009 season Kyle had over 50 tackles as well as 10 sacks and was one of the leading tacklers on the team. Kyle chose to come to Seton Hill to be a Griffin over numerous other Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference offers. He was coached by former Parade All-American Quarterback and 1981 and 2007 WPIAL Champion Rich Bowen.
Houston was a two year starter for the Woodberry team where they were 16-2 with both losses coming in overtime. During his senior year he was named first team All Prep and second team All State. Woodberry ended his final two seasons ranked first in the state and earned prep championships each season. Tyler also earned the Tiger Award, given to the player who embodies the spirit of Woodberry football the most.
Griffin saw plenty of action in the 2009 season catching over 25 balls with 8 touchdowns, Avery was selected to play in the Baltimore City vs. Baltimore County All-Star game this past December. Spending just two years at Baltimore CCHS as a transfer, Avery was able to letter and start in both his Junior and Senior campaigns there. He was coached in high school by long time BCCHS coach of 35 years George Petrides.
Sellers was a three year letter winner at Brookhaven which saw him in his senior season be recognized as a Honorable Mention All-City League and Special Mention Central District Defensive Back. In his senior season he recorded 12 touchdowns as a WR/RET and 6 Interceptions as a DB. In addition to football, Michael excels in track with him being part of the State qualifying Columbus Brookhaven Boys 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams. He was coached by former Brookhaven Bearcat Anthony Thornton who is the school leader in career total yards at Ohio University and Offensive Coordinator of the Brookhaven Football State Championship team in 2004
Bautista was a two year letterman at powerhouse Vista Murrieta High School in Murrieta, California. Helped win two back to back conference champions in undefeated season. Played freshman year of college at Powerhouse Palomar college then transferred to Mt. San Jacinto. At Mt. San Jacinto Junior College as a cornerback and recorded 20 tackles,3 Interceptions, a 90 yard touchdown interception, and a fumble recovery on only 3 starts on the year.
Dzugan was a two time all conference lineman. He was also listed as a top recruit on ESPN this past season. During his senior season he was named All State and also named to the All Eastern Conference team.
Bowling In the 2009 season Nick threw for over 1,900 yards and 20 touchdowns while amassing over 3,500 yards and 35 Touchdowns for a career. Nick also earned the nod as a 1st Team All-Northeast Ohio Conference (NOC) Quarterback in 2009. Nick comes to Seton Hill from Garfield Heights where he played under the direction of former college and veteran high school coach Chuck Reisland. He is the son of Tom and JoAnn Bowling.
