The Griffins hosted #4 California (PA) on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day. Seton Hill played right with the highly ranked Vulcans for nearly 40 minutes before falling by a 71-62 score. SHU drops to 14-11 overall and 10-9 in PSAC play while the Vulcans improve to 23-1 overall and 17-1 in PSAC action.

Alexandria Deep were honored in a pregame ceremony.
California got off to a 6-2 start in the early portion of the game. SHU responded with a three pointer from Deep and a layin from
Chrisanna Green to take a 7-6 lead four minutes into the contest. The Vulcans answered back with six straight points to take a 12-7 lead with 3:24 to play in the quarter.
Hannah Laslo then scored four straight followed by three straight from Green as SHU led 14-12 late in the quarter. Cal hit a jumper late to send the game to the second quarter tied at 14.
After the Vulcans took a 17-14 lead,
Jenna Kaufman connected on a layin and Wells drained a three to put SHU in front 19-17. Back to back layups from Kaufman and Green extended the SHU lead to 23-19 four minutes into the quarter. Deep then answered two California baskets to keep the Griffins ahead by four at 27-23 with 3:55 to play before the half. Deep hit another jumper to give SHU a 29-25 lead a minute later. Cal responded to tie the score at 29 with 2:09 to go, the fifth tie of the contest. The Vulcans hit one of two free throws with three seconds left to take a 32-31 halftime lead.
Neither team led by more than four points in the third quarter which featured five ties. SHU took their biggest lead of the quarter after a Green bucket with 5:55 to play that gave SHU a 38-35 lead. Cal took a 43-40 lead before
Lindsey Mifsud drained a three pointer to tie the score at 43 with 2:03 to play in the quarter. McLoughlin got a rebound and put back jumper at the buzzer to cut the Vulcans lead to 48-47 heading into the fourth quarter.
Back to back layups from Green gave SHU their last lead of the game at 51-49 with 8:47 to play in the game. Kaufman hit a jumper to tie the game at 53 and Green hit two free throws to tie the score at 55 with 5:28 to play. Cal scored four straight points before Green scored a basket at 3:10 left to cut the lead to 59-57. The Vulcans then went on a 10-1 run to put the game away and end the Griffins threat of an upset.
The Griffins shot 44% from the field while holding the Vulcans to just 40% from the floor. The teams were even in rebounds with 39. The difference in the game was the Griffins turned the ball over 25 times which led to 26 Vulcan points.
Chrisanna Green posted a double double of 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Jenna Kaufman also finished with a double double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Alexandria Deep also reached double figures with 11 points.
The Griffins will return to action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Mercyhurst for a 5:30 PM tip.
