Box Score The Griffins looked for two PSAC West wins in a row as they headed to Clarion on Monday evening. Seton Hill shot the lights out in the first half and used a career highs from
Jenna Kaufman and
Chrisanna Green to knock off Clarion by a 92-75 score. SHU improves to 10-5 overall and 6-3 in PSAC action.
Seton Hill jumped out to an early 10-2 lead in the first quarter.
Lindsey Mifsud and
Mariah Wells each hit three's during the first three minutes of the quarter. A layup from
Sydney Rabold extended the SHU lead to 29-16 late in the quarter but Clarion hit a jumper at the buzzer and SHU lead 29-18 after one quarter of play. The Griffins shot the lights out in the quarter as they were 11-13 from the floor in the period.
SHU then used an 8-0 run to take a 39-20 lead with 5:54 to play in the second quarter.
Jenna Kaufman's three point play and a three pointer from Wells pushed the Griffins lead to 49-25 with 3:20 to play in the half. Another jumper from Alexandria Hay gave SHU their largest lead of the game at 26 points. Clarion trimmed the Griffins lead 20, 53-33 at the half.
SHU shot 75% from the floor (21-28) in the half. Kaufman led the Griffins with 15 points. Both Wells and
Chrisanna Green added 11 points.
Clarion scored the first four points of the second half before Kaufman drained a three to push the SHU lead back to 19 points. A jumper from Kaufman, a layup from Green and a three pointer from Mifsud pushed the SHU lead to 25 at 64-39 with 5:47 to play in the third quarter. The Golden Eagles fought back and were able to cut the lead to 15, 75-60 at the end of the third quarter.
The Golden Eagles trimmed the Griffins lead to 13 points midway thru the fourth quarter but the Griffins were able to build their lead back up to 19 points at 89-70 with 2:33 to play.
The Griffins finished the game shooting 66% from the floor while holding Clarion to just 45%.
Jenna Kaufman scored a career high 28 points in the win.
Chrisanna Green finished with a career high 22 points on 8-8 shooting from the floor.
Mariah Wells also reached double figures with 15 points.
SHU will continue PSAC West play on Wednesday evening when they host Mercyhurst at 5:30 PM.
