Seton Hill made the trip up I-79 to Erie to take on Gannon in a PSAC dual match on Saturday evening. The Griffins won seven of the none contested matches including the final five to pull away for a 32-15 victory. SHU improves to 8-3 in dual matches and 4-3 in PSAC duals.
After dropping the 133 pound match by a forfeit,
Joseph Alessandro got the Griffins on the board with a 16-0 tech fall win at 141 pounds to trim the Gannon lead to 6-5 after two matches.
Jake Willochell put the Griffins ahead with a 16-5 major decision win at 149 pounds. Gannon then picked up two wins in the 157 and 165 pound weight class to take a 15-9 lead.
Christian Bosco ended the Gannon run and started a run for the Griffins with a 14-4 major decision victory at 174 pounds. Bosco knocked off the #4 ranked wrestler in the region. Seton Hill then got back to back pins to take control of the dual.
Luke Shaffer started off the streak of falls with a pin at 2:02 of the 184 pound match. Shaffer bumped up two weight classes and was trailing 4-2 in the match when he recorded the pinfall.
Jacob Temple followed with a win by pinfall with one second remaining in the third overtime period of the 197 pound weight class.
Alex Soutiere continued the run of Griffins wins with a 6-2 win in the 285 pound match.
Collin Dees ended the match with a 19-6 major decision win at 125 pounds.
SHU will close out their regular season next Saturday evening when they host Wheeling Jesuit in a dual match on Senior Night.
