Seton Hill University head wrestling coach Vincent DeAugustine has announced the addition of former University of Pittsburgh assistant coach and three-time Ohio State All-American Luke Pletcher to the Griffin wrestling staff.

The addition of Pletcher represents a major step forward for a Seton Hill program that continues to build momentum on the regional and national stage.

"This is a huge day for Seton Hill Wrestling," DeAugustine said. "Luke is one of the most accomplished wrestlers to come out of Western Pennsylvania, but what excites me even more is the person and coach we're adding to our program. I've known Luke for a very long time. I know his character, his work ethic and the way he approaches this sport. To have the opportunity to bring someone of his caliber into our program is incredibly special to me personally."

Pletcher comes to Seton Hill after serving on the wrestling staff at the University of Pittsburgh, where he worked with some of the nation's top collegiate wrestlers and helped contribute to the Panthers' success at the ACC and NCAA levels.

Before beginning his coaching career, Pletcher put together an outstanding career at Ohio State University. The Greater Latrobe graduate was a three-time All-American for the Buckeyes, a Big Ten champion and three-time NWCA Scholar All-American. He completed his collegiate career with a 108-21 record and went 26-1 during his senior season.

His accomplishments began in Western Pennsylvania, where Pletcher was a three-time PIAA state champion at Greater Latrobe High School and established himself as one of the top high school wrestlers in the country.

For DeAugustine, however, the hire is about more than Pletcher's résumé.

"Luke could coach at a lot of places, and that's what makes this such an important hire for us," DeAugustine said. "We're bringing an elite wrestling mind, a proven recruiter and developer, and someone who understands Western Pennsylvania wrestling at the highest level into our room every day."

"Our expectations for this program continue to grow. We want to develop All-Americans. We want to compete for championships. We want the best wrestlers in Pennsylvania and throughout the country to understand what we're building at Seton Hill. Adding Luke to our staff sends a pretty strong message about where we believe this program can go."

Pletcher will work alongside DeAugustine in all aspects of the Griffin wrestling program, including athlete development, recruiting and day-to-day training.

"On a personal level, I couldn't be more excited," DeAugustine added. "I've watched Luke's journey for a long time, and I've always had tremendous respect for him and his family. Now we get to work together and build something special here at Seton Hill. I can't wait to get started."
