Seton Hill closed out their Pre-Christmas portion of their schedule with an afternoon game against Salem International on Monday afternoon. The game was tight throughout but the Griffins pulled away late for a 73-62 victory. SHU improves to 8-3 on the season while Salem International drops to 1-13. It's the best start for a Griffin team since the 2010-11 season when SHU started the season 9-2.
The Griffins took their first lead of the game at 3-2 when
Alexandra Hay answered a Salem basket with a three pointer of her own. That would be the only lead the Griffins would have in the first quarter until
Chrisanna Green scored with 2:02 to play to put SHU ahead 15-13. The first quarter featured four ties.
SHU started off the second quarter by outscoring the Tigers 7-1 to take a 22-15 lead with 6:34 to play in the half.

The Tigers tied the score at 35 and took their final lead of the game at 37-35 with 6:52 left in the third quarter. The Griffins could not put the Tigers away as they only led 44-43 with 3:18 left in the quarter. SHU then began to take control of the game over the next two minutes as they outscored the Tigers 8-0 to take a 52-43 lead late in the quarter.
The visitors cut the SHU lead to 54-49 early in the fourth quarter but the Griffins used a 14-3 run over a 3:20 minute stretch to put the game away.
Jenna Kaufman led the Griffins with 16 points.
Chrisanna Green posted a double double of 15 points and 16 rebounds, giving her 34 rebounds over her previous two games.
Alexandra Hay and
Halie Torris also reached double figures with 12 points each.
