Ty Lydic and Patrick Owens advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championships after top four finishes at the Super Region I Championships.  Lydic and Owens both competed in the championships on Friday in St Louis, Missouri at Chaifetz Arena.  Both wrestlers were eliminated on day one to end their seasons.

Owens dropped his first round match at 141 pounds to #3 Kyle Webb of Lindenwood University by a 10-8 score.  Pat then was eliminated following a loss in consolation round one to Daniel Salazar of Colorado Mesa by the score of 7-3.

Lydic opened the tournament at 149 pounds with a 4-2 victory over #8 Reis Humphrey of New Mexico Highlands.  Ty then dropped his quarterfinal match to #1 Frank Cagnina of Central Missouri by the score of 8-1.  Lydic then dropped to consolation round two, needing a victory to earn All American status.  Ty jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period but then gave up 6 straight points to Brett Fickel of Ashland and trailed 6-2 after one period.  Lydic cut the lead to 7-5 after two periods but was outscored 6-0 in the third period to be eliminated by a 13-5 score.
