The Griffin wrestling team opened their dual match portion of their season with a non conference dual with Fairmont State at Thomas Jefferson High School on Wednesday evening.
SHU won the first five matches of the contest as they jumped out to a big lead and defeated the Falcons by the score of 27-13. SHU is now 1-0 on the season.
The Griffins won the opening match in overtime with a 4-1 win by
Jacob Sombronski at 125 pounds. SHU extended their lead to 9-0 with a win by fall from
Jacob Braun at 133 pounds.
Greg Shaulis pushed the Griffins advantage to 13-0 with a 9-0 major decision win at 141 pounds.
Ty Linsenbigler increased the lead to 18-0 with a tech fall at 149 pounds.
Mike Zacur earned another win by fall as the Griffins built a 24-0 lead after five matches.
Kane Kettering picked up the other win for the Griffins with a decision win at 174 pounds.
SHU will open PSAC play on December 5th when they travel to Kutztown.
