Seton Hill put its six match winning streak on the line with a matchup at Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday evening. Wheeling won the last match to excape with a 16-14 victory over the Griffins, ending SHU's six match winning streak. SHU drops to 11-5 on the season.
The Griffins took a 3-0 lead after a 5-3 victory by
Mike Soria in the 125 pound match. Wheeling took the next two matches by decision to take a 6-3 lead.
Ty Lydic tied the match up at six with a 3-2 victory at 149 pounds. Wheeling won the next two matches, one by major decision to take a 13-5 lead after the 165 pound match.
Brett Smith earned a 6-4 decision win at 174 pounds and
Christian Bosco won 12-7 to cut the Cardinals lead to 13-11 with two matches remaining.
Morris Lawson put the Griffins back in the lead at 14-13 with a 6-3 decision win at 197 pounds. Wheeling then won the heavyweight match by a 3-2 score in overtime to win the match.
Seton Hill will close out its regular season with a match at West Liberty on Tuesday evening.
