Box Score Greensburg, PA- The Seton Hill women's basketball dropped their first home game of the year to Edinboro University 68-57 on Wednesday evening. The Griffins, now 1-2 overall, drop to 0-1 in PSAC play.
Seton Hill struggled with the 3-point shots, only shooting for 1-14. The Griffins did manage to out shoot the Fighting Scots on the floor by shooting 41% in 2-point range and 76.9% from the charity stripe.
The game play went back and forth early in the first half. The game was tied 16-16 when Edinboro went on a 8 point scoring run with 6:11 remaining in the half. The streak was snapped by
Alexandra Hay's lay up with 5:21 remaining.
Unable to gain back the difference, The Griffins found themselves down at halftime 33-28. Edinboro's first half lead was backed by their shooting performance behind the 3-point arc. The Fighting Scots hit four 3-point shots compared to the Griffin's 0-6 attempts.
Edinboro controlled most of the second half. The Fighting Scots held the lead for the entire half and led by as much as 17 points. Despite out rebounding their opponents, the Griffins' 17 turnovers only hurt their chances of returning with the lead.
Down by 17 with 10:43 remaining on the clock, the Griffins were able to climb back to within 11 points. Edinboro rode out the clock for their first PSAC victory of the season, 68-57.
Jenna Kaufman scored 13 points and
Chelsea Apke scored 12 points to lead the Griffins in the points category. Apke also contributed a double-double, adding 12 total rebounds.
Seton Hill will return home this Saturday, November 22 for their next contest. They host Indiana University of Pennsylvania for a PSAC match up. Game time is set for 3 p.m. Come out to campus to support your Seton Hill women's basketball team.
