Box Score Seton Hill started their weekend trip to Erie with a huge PSAC West battle against Gannon on Friday evening. Both teams entered the match with 11-2 PSAC records. The match didn't live up to its billing as the Knights swept the Griffins 3-0. The first two sets were tight with the Knights winning 25-22 and 25-23. Gannon closed out the match with a 25-17 win. SHU falls to 21-3 overall and 11-3 in PSAC play.
The early part of the first set was played very tightly with SHU taking a 6-5 lead. Gannon then scored the next 5 points to take a 10-6 lead. A kill and an ace from
Corrine Gahagen cut the lead to 10-8.

Cassie Hausfeld had back to back kills to cut the lead to 11-10. The Knights then extended their lead to 15-12. Gannon pushed the lead to 18-13 forcing a Griffin timeout. Two Gannon attack errors cut the Knights lead to 20-16. A Gannon service error and Gahagen kill cut the Knights lead to 24-21.
Katie Wenson's kill held off another set point before the Knights took the first set 25-22.
Courtney Field gave the Griffins a 1-0 lead in the second set with a kill. Gannon took an 11-8 lead in the set and the Griffins called their first timeout of the set. Three kills from Gahagen and an Gannon attack error got the Griffins back to within one at 16-15. A kill and an ace from
Abigail Malsch tied the set at 17. Another Gahagen kill cut the Knights lead to 21-20, forcing a timeout. Hausfeld had an ace and Field a kill to give SHU their first lead of the set since 1-0 at 23-22. That lead was short lived as the Knights scored the last 3 points of the set to take a 2-0 lead with a 25-23 victory.
Gannon scored the first three points of the third set before the Griffins responded to tie the set at 3. Kills from Malsch and Gahagen gave SHU a 5-4 early lead. Gannon then went on a 4-0 run to take a 12-8 lead. The Knights continued to pull away and swept the Griffins with a 25-16 third set win.
Corrine Gahagen led the Griffins with 14 kills.
Cassie Hausfeld finished with 9 kills.
Courtney Field added 33 assists.
Lauren Teed led SHU with 15 digs. Hausfeld added 12 and
Abigail Malsch finished with 10.
The Griffins will conclude their Erie trip on Saturday when they take on Mercyhurst at 4 PM.
