SHU Falls on the Road at Shippensburg



The Griffin wrestling team continued PSAC conference play with a dual match at Shippensburg on Wednesday evening.  Seton Hill jumped out to an early 14-9 lead in the match but dropped the final four matches and fell by a 23-14 score.  SHU falls to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in PSAC action.

After dropping the 125 pound match by forfeit, Andrew Schutz cut the Ship lead to 6-3 with a 4-2 decision victory at 133 pounds.  AJ Fisher tied the match at 6 with an 8-5 victory at 141 pounds.  Ship took the 149 pound match to take a 9-6 lead in the match.  Zach Voytek put the Griffins back ahead with a major decision victory (18-1) in the 157 pound match.  Brett Smith extended the advantage to 14-9 with a 6-5 decision victory in the 165 pound match.  Shippensburg then won the next three matches to take a 20-14 lead.  Ryan Simonica then dropped a tough 4-3 decision in the 285 pound match to close out the match and give Shippensburg the 23-14 win.

The Griffins will return to action on Sunday at the Pitt Duals when they will battle Davidson, Buffalo and NC State.
