Box Score The Seton Hill Women's soccer team played host to the visiting Golden Eagles of the University of Charleston on Saturday. The Griffins were defeated in the final minutes with a Golden Eagle goal to suffer a 2-1 loss.
In the beginning of the first half the Griffins maintained control of the ball for the majority of the time. Their possession control paid off at the 15: 46 mark when
Katelyn Wiater put one in the back of the net off of a pass from
Jessica Adams to take a 1-0 lead. Both teams continued to battle and the Griffins entered halftime with the 1-0 advantage.
In second half action the Golden Eagles started with a bang. Holly Bigg scored off a foul kick just three minutes into play to tie the game 1-1. For the remainder of the half both teams had their opportunities but could not capitalize. Until the 88:02 mark when Elyse Surbaugh hit a long threw ball to Brittany Loveland who scored to give the Golden Eagles the advantage and the 2-1 victory over the Griffins.
Lauren Peretich recorded seven saves in goal. With the loss the Griffins end their winning streak and their record drops to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in WVIAC conference play. The Griffins will return to action Wednesday, September 19, as they travel to Bethany College for a game at 7:30PM.
