Griffins Shutout in Season Opener

The Seton Hill Griffins opened the season on Thursday, August 30 with a home game against the Crimson Hawks of Indiana (PA) and dropped a 6-0 decision.

The Crimson Hawks struck first scoring a goal off of a penalty kick from Tonya Fabian to take a 1-0 lead at the 14:22 mark. Twelve minutes later Brittney Kuhns scored off a pass from Fabian to give the Crimson Hawks a 2-0 advantage. The Griffins then got a couple of shots on goal but could not find the back of the net. However, that was not a problem for IUP as they managed to score one more goal in the final minutes to enter halftime leading the Griffins 3-0.

Things did not get much better for Seton Hill in during the second half. The Crimson Hawks came out strong scoring just 35 seconds into play to make it a 4-0 contest. Five minutes later Lindsay Lobevero connected with Rachel McCarriher to increase the Crimson Hawks lead 5-0 at the 51:05 mark. Nicole Miller added to the Hawks tallies two minutes later with a free kick goal. At the sound of the final whistle the Griffins suffered a 6-0 loss.

With the defeat the Griffins start the season with a 0-1 record overall. The Seton Hill women will take on Lock Haven next at home on Saturday , September 1 at 12:00PM.
