Seton Hill closed out its four game set with Indiana (PA) with a home PSAC West doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. The Griffins took a game one with a 3-2 walk off win. IUP scored 4 times in the eighth inning for a 9-5 win in game two. SHU is now 26-10 overall and 11-5 in PSAC West play.
The Griffins got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Anthony Fanelli led off the inning with a single.
Chris Miller followed with a single and both runners moved up on a balk.
Matt Malacane then singled to drive in Fanelli and Miller to give SHU a 2-0 lead. IUP tied the score at two in the top of the sixth inning.
SHU won the game in the seventh inning. After an out,
Sam Vilk hit a double. Pinch runner
Evan Myers moved to third on a fly out and scored on a walk off single from Fanelli.
Jesse Cooper earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief. Fanelli and Malacane each had two hits in the win.
IUP scored three runs in the top of the first inning of game two to take a quick 3-0 lead. The Crimson Hawks added another run in the second to take a 4-0 lead. SHU cut into the lead in the bottom of the second inning. Miller led off the inning with a single and scored when Malacane homered to the opposite field cutting the IUP lead to 4-2. Fanelli then tied the game at four with a 2 RBI single in the bottom of the second.
IUP retook the lead in the seventh with a single run. Seton Hill tied the game at five on a two out RBI single from Vilk sending the game to extra innings. IUP then scored four times in the top of the eighth to take a 9-5 lead.
SHU will travel to Alderson Broaddus on Tuesday for a non conference single 9 inning game.
