Seton Hill hosted G-MAC foe Ursuline in a non conference tilt on Wednesday evening in the McKenna Center. The Arrows used a 58-20 advantage in the paint in route to a 102-66 road win. SHU falls to 4-2 overall while the Arrows improve to 5-2.
Jenna Kaufman answered an Ursuline basket with a three pointer of her own to give SHU the early 3-2 lead. Two layups from
Chrisanna Green tied the score at five and seven before
Mariah Wells drained a three to give SHU a 10-9 lead just 2:30 into the first quarter. Green followed with a layup to give SHU a 12-11 lead but that would be the last lead the Griffins would have. The Arrows went on a 13-3 run to take a 24-15 lead with 4:05 left in the quarter. Ursuline was able to extend their lead to 33-19 at the end of the first quarter.
The Arrows built their lead to as many as 21 points in the second quarter, the last at 48-27 with 4:24 left in the half. SHU responded with an 8-0 run on a jumper from
Hannah Laslo, four points from Kaufman and two from
Kinross Obiefule to trim the lead to 48-35 with 1:26 left in the half. The Arrows scored the final four points of the quarter to take a 52-35 lead into the halftime break.
The Griffins tried to keep the game close by hitting four three pointers in the first four minutes of the third quarter and trailed just 61-47 with 6:05 left in the quarter. SHU would get no closer as the Arrows pushed their lead to 76-52 after three quarters of play.
Ursuline used a 26 point fourth quarter to reach the century mark in the contest.
Ursuline shot 58% from the floor and 67% from three compared to just 32% from the floor for the Griffins. SHU only committed 10 turnovers while forcing 13 Arrow turnovers.
Jenna Kaufman led the Griffins with 16 points.
Chrisanna Green added 12 points and 7 rebounds.
Mariah Wells also reached double figures with 11 points.
SHU will return to PSAC action on Saturday as they host a crossover against Millersville, starting at 1 PM.
