Box Score The Griffin field hockey team opened their 2015 season with a neutral site contest in West Chester, PA against Lindenwood University. SHU jumped out to a 2-1 lead early in the second half but Lindenwood scored the next four goals for a 5-2 win.
Lindenwood opened the scoring in the 19th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Griffins answered six minutes later with a goal from
Alisha Bell to tie the game at one.
Emily Hutsko assisted on the goal. The game was tied at 1-1 at the half.
SHU took the lead 10 minutes into the second half on Bell's second goal of the contest. Lindenwood tied the score six minutes later and scored twice within 1:20 to extend their lead to 4-2 with less than 15 minutes to play. Lindewood closed out the scoring with a goal with 6:33 to play.
Alexandra Piekarz recorded 8 saves in the cage in the loss.
SHU returns to action next Wednesday when they travel to Indiana PA for a 4 PM start.
