Ten Griffins Named to NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad; Three Named Scholars of Distinction

Ten members of the Seton Hill field hockey program have been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II National Academic Squad, sponsored by OPI Winning Teams.  Three of the ten were honored as NFHCA Division II Scholars of Distinction.  

The association announced the team on Wednesday afternoon which featured over 540 student athletes from more than 35 Division II institutions.  The Division II National Academic Squad honors student athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the 2021-22 academic year.  

The ten members of the team included: Olivia Diebel, Natalie Diven, Emma Jorgensen, Carly Kubacka, Shannon McCormac, Madison McMichael, Gabriella Oxley, Maeve Robillard, Michaela Swift-Mellor and Jade Taylor.

Swift-Mellor and Jorgensen were two of just over 91 student athletes to earn the award for four straight years.  

Swift-Mellor, McMichael and McCormac all earned the Scholar of Distinction honor.  

The Scholar of Distinction program recognizes student athletes who achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.9 or better through the first semester of the 2021-22 school year.  More than 150 student athletes earned the award this season.  Limestone led Division II with 10 honorees.
