Box Score Seton Hill looked to continue to avoid elimination in the PSAC Baseball Championships in Butler, PA on Saturday morning as they took on East Stroudsburg with the winner advancing to the PSAC Title Game. SHU jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead but the offense disappeared during the middle six innings and the Warriors eliminated the Griffins by an 8-5 score. SHU falls to 42-11 on the season.
The Griffins put two on with two outs in the top of the first but a pop out ended the Griffins threat in the first. SHU broke thru in the top of the second inning for three runs.
Anthony Fanelli had an infield single with one out. He moved to second when
Zac Heide reached on a throwing error.
Taylor Schmidt singled thru the right side to score Fanelli. After a strikeout,
Garret Vrbanic plated two runs with a double that landed right inside the left field line. East Stroudsburg scores 5 times in the bottom of the third to take a 5-3 lead after three innings. The Warriors added a run in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home to left center field.
Chris Miller and Fanelli each singled to lead off the eighth inning but all it took was two pitches for the Warriors to end the Griffins inning. Heide hit into a double play and Schmidt grounded out to the pitcher to end the inning. The Warriors added two runs in the bottom of the eighth on a two run homer to push the lead to 8-3.
Nick Sell homered to score
Pat McCarthy and cut the lead to 8-5 with one out in the ninth.
Mike Bittel suffered the loss, lasting only 2 2/3 innings, giving up 5 runs on 6 hits. The bottom of the order carried the Griffins as they had 8 of the 11 hits.

The Griffins will now await the NCAA Selection show next Sunday to see where the journey to the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship will begin.
