Box Score 2 Seton Hill closed out its four game PSAC West set against Clarion by hosting the Golden Eagles in a doubleheader on Monday afternoon. The Griffins took game one by the score of 8-1. SHU completed the sweep with a 17-2 win in game two. SHU is now 28-4 overall and 15-1 in PSAC West play.
Seton Hill had its first six hitters reach base and scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Pat McCarthy led off with a bunt single.
Matt Malacane followed with a single.
Nick Sell scored McCarthy with an RBI single.
Chris Miller walked to load the bases.
Logan Urtz then drove in two with a double to right field.
Cody Herald closed out the scoring in the inning with a two run bomb to left. Clarion got a run back with a solo shot to left field in the second.
Garret Vrbanic got that run right back with an inside the park homer in the bottom half of the second. SHU increased their lead to 7-1 with an RBI single by Urtz. Malacane threw out a runner trying to get to third base to end the sixth inning. It was the second Clarion runner gunned out at third as
Cody Herald threw out a runner as well. Vrbanic hit a solo shot with two outs to left in the bottom of the sixth.
Jordan Fuller improved to 6-0, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits and struck out 4.
Pat McCarthy led the offense with 3 hits.

Garret Vrbanic each had 2 hits. Vrbanic hit two homers.
Nick Sell put the Griffins on the scoreboard in the first with a two run homer to left field that scored
Pat McCarthy who singled. That home run set a new SHU single season record with Sell hitting 17 on the season. The Griffins added four more runs on two RBI hits from
Zac Heide and
Garret Vrbanic. SHU added five more runs in the second with 6 singles and a double. Heide drove in two in the inning with a single.
Logan Urtz increased the lead to 12-1 with an RBI single in the third.
Colton Carney hit a two run homer in the bottom of the fifth. SHU added three more runs for a 17-1 lead.
Zach Martinelli earned the win.
