Seton Hill and Mercyhurst hooked up in a huge PSAC West battle on Friday afternoon with first place on the line.  The Lakers used two unearned runs to take game one by the score of 2-1.  Mercyhurst completed the sweep with a 5-2 come from behind win in game two.  The Lakers claimed the PSAC West title with the wins.  SHU falls to 37-9 overall and 20-6 in PSAC West play while the Lakers improve to 32-4 overall and 22-4 in PSAC West play.
 
The Griffins scored first in the bottom of the first inning.  Pat McCarthy drew a leadoff walk and moved to second on a sac bunt by Cody Herald.  He stole third and then scored on a balk.  The Lakers tied the score at one with an unearned run in the top of the third.  Seton Hill threatened in the bottom of the fourth with runners at first and second and one out but a double play ended the threat.  Mercyhurst scored an unearned run in the top of the seventh to take a 2-1 lead.  SHU put runners on first and second in the bottom of the seventh but a deep flyout to left ended the game. 
 
Nick Sell reached base three times to lead the Griffins.
 
Nick Sell gave the Griffins a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with a two out solo homer to deep left center field.  The Griffins increased their lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning.  Matt Malacane hit a solo homer to center field to lead off the inning.  SHU had a chance to add on in the inning with the bases loaded and one out but a strikeout and pop out ended the inning.  Mercyhurst cut the lead in half with a run in the top of the fifth.  The Lakers tied the score with another unearned run in the top of the sixth.  Mercyhurst took their first lead of the game with three runs in the top of the seventh.  A two run homer and an RBI single gave the Lakers their three runs. 
 
Matt Malacane was the lone Griffin with two hits including a homer.  Nick Sell also homered.
 
SHU will close out the PSAC West schedule on Saturday when they travel to Mercyhurst for a doubleheader.
