Box Score 2 The Griffins took a break from PSAC action on Tuesday when they hosted former WVIAC foe Alderson Broaddus in nonconference action. The Griffins took game one by an 8-2 score. SHU completed the sweep with a 7-1 win in game two. SHU is now 37-7 overall.
Seton Hill took a 5-0 lead in the first inning thanks to some free bases from the Battlers. SHU scored the five runs on two hits. Three walks and a hit batter added to the inning.
Chris Miller,
Adam Ferita,
Taylor Schmidt and
Zac Heide each had RBI's in the inning. Alderson Broaddus scored one run in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 5-1. SHU added on in the fourth.
Garret Vrbanic and
Pat McCarthy were both hit by a pitch. Vrbanic scored on a wild pitch and McCarthy scored when
Cody Herald doubled down the right field line. The Griffins increased their lead to 8-1 on a sacrifice fly from Schmidt. Alderson Broaddus got that run back in the top of the sixth to cut the lead to 8-2.
Joe Shaffer earned the win in relief.
Anthony Fanelli and
Zac Heide each had two hits.
SHU scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Adam Ferita walked and scored when
Cody Herald singled.
Logan Urtz then singled in Herald.
Pat McCarthy scored on a wild pitch and
Matt Malacane drove in Urtz to give SHU a 4-0 lead. Malacane increased the lead to 5-0 with a RBI triple in the third. The Griffins added an unearned run in the third. AB got one run in the top of the fourth inning. Urtz singled in
Nick Sell who doubled for the Griffins seventh run.
Logan Urtz and
Matt Malacane each had three hits for the Griffins.
SHU returns to action with a huge PSAC West four game set vs Mercyhurst this weekend. The first doubleheader is at home on Friday.
