Box Score 2 Seton Hill hosted Point Park in a non conference battle between two highly ranked teams. The Griffins won a slugfest in game one by the score of 9-8. Seton Hill completed the sweep with a 6-4 win in game two. SHU improves to 32-6 overall.
Point Park got on the board first by scoring 3 runs on 1 hit in the top of the first inning. SHU tied the score with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Back to back to back doubles from
Chris Miller,
Cody Herald and
Adam Ferita tied the score at three. Point Park added two more in the top of the second on a two run homer. The Griffins answered back with 4 runs on two homers in their half of the second.
Nick Sell hit a three run homer to left field and Miller hit a towering homer to deep center field to give SHU a 7-5 lead. Point Park tied the score at seven with two runs in the top half of the fourth inning. The Pioneers took an 8-7 lead with a single run in the top of the fifth. SHU retook the lead in the bottom of the fifth with two runs.
Pat McCarthy hit a sacrifice fly to score Ferita and
Taylor Schmidt then singled to score
Ryan Wardropper.
Logan Urtz earned the win by throwing the final three innings.
Chris Miller led the offense with 3 hits.

Point Park took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. SHU tied the score with a run in the bottom of the first when
Garret Vrbanic walked, stole second and third and scored on an RBI groundout from
Nick Sell. SHU added 4 more in the second, three of them on a three run homer from Mark Collella. SHU added another run in the fourth on an RBI groundout from Collella that scored
Logan Urtz who doubled.
Joe Shaffer earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief.
Austin Sleek earned the save with two scoreless innings of action.
Logan Urtz was the lone Griffin with two hits.
The Griffins return to PSAC West play on Friday when they travel to Gannon for a doubleheader.
