Box Score Seton Hill took a break from PSAC play on Wednesday as they made the trip down Interstate 70 to take on former WVIAC foe West Liberty in a single 9 inning contest. SHU scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to rally for a 7-5 come from behind victory. The Griffins run their winning streak to 13 games and are now 24-4 on the season.
Pat McCarthy was hit by a pitch to lead off the game. He moved to third on an error on a pickoff throw and scored on a sacrifice fly from
Garret Vrbanic to give the Griffins an early 1-0 lead. West Liberty tied the game at one with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second inning. The Griffins took a 3-1 lead in the third.
Zac Heide led off the inning drawing a walk and moved to second when
Taylor Schmidt singled. McCarthy then singled to drive in Heide.
Nick Sell then drove in Schmidt with a sacrifice fly. West Liberty retook a 4-3 lead with 3 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Hilltoppers added another run in the fifth to increase their lead to 5-3.
Chris Miller doubled to lead off the sixth and scored on an error by the pitcher to trim the lead to 5-4. West Liberty held that 5-4 lead to the ninth inning. McCarthy led off the ninth inning with a triple. He tied the game on a sacrifice fly from Vrbanic. Sell doubled and scored on a RBI single from Miller. Miller scored the seventh run on a West Liberty error.
Tyler Morder earned the victory, throwing 2 scoreless innings of relief.
Pat McCarthy led the Griffin offense with 3 hits.

The Griffins return to PSAC West play on Friday afternoon at 1 PM with a home doubleheader against Clarion.
