Box Score 2 The Griffin baseball team returned to PSAC West play on Saturday with a doubleheader against Pitt Johnstown at Point Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Seton Hill scored 39 runs and pounded 9 homers in the doubleheader sweep. SHU scored 9 runs in the sixth inning of game one in route to a 16-5 win. The Griffins completed the sweep with a 23-10 win in game two. SHU improves to 17-4 overall and 5-1 in PSAC West play.
Game one was scoreless thru three innings. Pitt Johnstown took a 2-0 lead with runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Taylor Schmidt hit a three run homer to right field to give the Griffins a 3-2 lead. UPJ tied the score at three with a run in the bottom of the fifth. The Griffin offense then exploded for 9 runs in the sixth inning to take a 12-3 lead. UPJ got two runs back in the bottom of the sixth before the Griffins scored four runs in the seventh to close out the scoring.
Mike Bittel earned the win in game one. He worked 5 innings, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits while striking out 5.

Taylor Schmidt each had 3 hits in the win. Schmidt drove in 4 runs, Miller 3 and McCarthy 2 runs.
Zac Heide and
Anthony Fanelli each added 2 hits.
The Griffins jumped out to a 10-3 lead after five innings of game two and cruised to a 23-10 win in game two.
Chris Miller hit for the cycle for the Griffins.
SHU will close out the four game set with the Mountain Cats on Sunday with a home doubleheader at 1 PM.
