Box Score 2 Seton Hill closed out its spring break trip with a doubleheader at Frank Tack Park in Clearwater, FL. The Griffins pounded out 22 hits in a 19-1 victory over Mansfield. SHU completed a 7-1 trip with a 9-4 victory over Tiffin. SHU will return to PA with a 10-3 overall record.
The Griffins jumped on Mansfield for 5 runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Pat McCarthy and
Garret Vrbanic each singled to open the game.
Nick Sell then drove in both McCarthy and Vrbanic to make it 2-0.
Zac Heide,
Adam Ferita and
Taylor Schmidt each drove in a run in the inning. SHU added 2 more runs in the second.
Chris Miller drove in a run with a double and Heide added a sacrifice fly to make it 7-0 after two innings. Schmidt drove in a run in the third to increase the lead to 8-0.
The Griffins put the game away with 6 runs in the bottom of the seventh. The big hit in the inning was a three run homer from Ferita. Mansfield got an unearned run in the top of the eighth. SHU answered with 4 runs in the bottom of the eighth.
Logan Urtz drove in three runs with a bases clearing double.
Zach Martinelli earned the win. He went 7 2/3 innings, giving up 1 run (unearned) on 2 hits.

Garret Vrbanic was hit by a pitch to open the game. He moved to second on a single from
Pat McCarthy and scored when
Nick Sell singled.
Chris Miller was hit by a pitch and McCarthy scored when a double play was turned. SHU added two more in the third on RBI singles from McCarthy and
Cody Herald. Sell increased the lead to 7-0 with a three run shot in the top of the fourth. Tiffin got one run back in the bottom of the fourth. SHU got an unearned run in the top of the sixth. Tiffin cut the lead to 8-4 with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Ryan Wardropper closed out the scoring with an RBI single.
Perry DellaValle earned the win, going 5+ innings. He gave up 4 runs (3 earned) on 8 hits with 4 strikeouts.
Kevin Neumann earned his first save of the season, throwing the final 4 innings of relief.
