Box Score 2 Seton Hill opened its 2015 season with a doubleheader in Hartsville, SC against Coker College. The Griffins jumped out to a 4-0 lead and won game one by the score of 11-5. Coker rallied from being down 7-3 for an 8-7 extra inning victory in game two.
Game one was scoreless until
Zac Heide homered over the left field fence to give the Griffins a 1-0 lead in the third inning. The Griffins picked up two unearned runs in the fourth inning.
Anthony Fanelli singled to lead off the inning. He was forced out on a ground out by
Nick Sell. Sell came around to score on a throwing error as
Cody Herald reached base.
Logan Urtz then doubled in
Matt Malacane who reached on a fielders choice. Heide singled to lead off the fifth and scored later in the inning on a passed ball to give SHU a 4-0 lead. Coker cut the lead in half in the bottom of the fifth with 2 runs. SHU added three more runs in the top of the seventh. Fanelli walked with the bases loaded to drive in a run and Sell singled in two runs to extend the lead to 7-2. Coker got two of those runs back in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Griffins added 4 insurance runs in the ninth.
Pat McCarthy had an RBI double while Fanelli, Malacane and Urtz each had RBI singles. Coker added one more in the ninth as the Griffins picked up the 11-5 win.
Mike Bittel earned the victory, going 5 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 2 hits and struck out 5.
Logan Urtz led the Griffins with 3 hits.

Seton Hill got on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning of game two.
Pat McCarthy singled and stole second and third and scored on an RBI groundout by
Cody Herald.
Garret Vrbanic and McCarthy each drove in runs in the top of the second inning with RBI singles. Coker tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the third inning. SHU retook the lead with four runs in the top of the fourth.
Chris Miller doubled in the first run of the inning. McCarthy,
Nick Sell and Herald each followed with RBI singles as SHU led 7-3. Coker cut the lead to 7-6 with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Coker tied the score at 7 with an unearned run in their last at bat. Coker then walked off the Griffins in the eighth inning with a two out double followed by the game winning single to left field.

Brett Sullivan went 5 innings, giving up 6 runs (4 earned) on 6 hits while striking out 7.
Perry DellaValle suffered the loss, throwing the final 2 2/3 innings.
Pat McCarthy had 3 hits and drove in 2 runs.
Chris Miller added 2 hits and an RBI.
Seton Hill will look to take the rubber game of the three game set on Sunday. First pitch is set for 12 PM.
