Box Score Seton Hill hosted California University of Saturday afternoon in the McKenna Center looking to extend its winning streak to three games. The Griffins used the hot shooting of
David Windsor and
Kameron Taylor to run the win streak to three with a 63-59 victory over the Vulcans. Windsor and Taylor combined for 49 of the Griffins 63 points. SHU improves to 6-10 overall and 5-7 in PSAC play.
California scored the first five points of the contest before
David Windsor answered with 8 straight points of his own on 2 three pointers and a jumper to give SHU an 8-5 advantage. After a Vulcan bucket,
Kameron Taylor capped off a four point play after being fouled while hitting a threeto give SHU a 12-7 lead. Cal then scored seven straight to take a 14-12 advantage.
Zach Herman then hit a jumper to end the run and Windsor drained a three to give the Griffins a 17-14 lead with 10:56 to play in the half. Windsor's three point play gave the Griffins the lead back at 23-20 with 6:27 to play Cal built their lead to 29-25 but a three point play from Taylor just before the end of the half cut the Vulcans halftime lead to 29-28.
The Vulcans held a 39-35 lead seven minutes into the second half when the Griffins went on a 12-0 run over the next six minutes to build their lead to 47-39 with 7:11 to play in the half. Taylor scored 7 of the 12 points during the run. California then cut the lead to 51-48 with 2:29 to play but that would be as close as the Vulcans would get. A layup from
Noah Davis and a jumper from Windsor pushed the lead back to 55-48 with a minute remaining. The Vulcans hit a three on their next possession but the Griffins were able to go a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line down the stretch to ice the game. Windsor hit 4 free throws while Davis and Taylor each hit two down the stretch.
David Windsor again led the Griffins with a game high 27 points. Windsor was 9-12 from the field including 4-5 from three point land and 5-5 from the line. He has scored 60 points in his last two games.
Kameron Taylor added 22 points for the Griffins. He also finished with 8 rebounds.
Seton Hill shot 49% from the floor and hit 12 of 13 free throws. The Griffins added 7 blocks including 6 from
Spencer Casson.
Seton Hill will look to make it four in a row when they travel to Mercyhurst on Wednesday evening.
