Winning Streak Comes to an End as the Griffins Split Doubleheader

Seton Hill hosted Slippery Rock in a PSAC West doubleheader on Sunday afternoon to close out their four game set.   The Griffins saw their 17 game winning streak end with a 9-3 loss in game one.  SHU got back the winning ways with a 4-3 come from behind victory in game two.  SHU improves to 29-10 overall and 16-2 in PSAC West play.
 
The Rock used a walk, a balk and a single to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.  SRU added three more runs in the top of the fourth to increase the lead to 4-0.   SHU scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth.  Cody Herald singled to lead off the inning.  Nick Sell reached on a bunt single and Herald moved to third on an error.  Herald then scored on a sacrifice fly from Chris MillerJesse Cooper then singled in Sell to cut the lead to 4-2.  SRU then answered with five runs in the top of the fifth to increase the lead to 9-2.  Jesse Cooper doubled and scored in the seventh to close out the scoring. 
 
Brad Schnelle suffered the loss.  Jesse Cooper was the lone Griffin with two hits. 
 
The Griffins got on the board in the bottom of the second of game two.  After an out, Chris Miller drew a walk.  He moved to third on a double from Brandon JosseyAnthony Fanelli then singled in Miller.  Zach Heide then executed a squeeze play to give SHU the 2-0 lead.  Slippery Rock got a run back in the top of the fourth to trim the lead to 2-1.  Slippery Rock took the lead with two runs in the top of the sixth.  The Griffins retook the lead in the bottom of the sixth.  Chris Miller singled to lead off the inning and Ryan Hayden pinch ran for him.  Brandon Jossey then walked.  Both runners then stole and Fanelli singled in Hayden to tie the score at three.  Then with two outs Taylor Schmidt singled thru the right side to give SHU a 4-3 lead.   
 
Logan Urtz (2-0) picks up the win in relief of Brett SullivanJesse Cooper threw a scoreless seventh for his 14th save of the season.  Anthony Fanelli was the lone Griffin with two hits
 
Seton Hill will travel to Gannon on Tuesday.
