Seton Hill continued its spring break trip with a matchup against #1 Tampa on Sunday afternoon. The Griffins were able to trim the Tampa lead to 3-2 after five and a half innings but gave up four more runs to fall by the score of 7-2. SHU drops to 4-5 overall and Tampa improves to 19-1.
Griffin starter
Brad Schnelle was able to hold the Spartans offense down for the first four innings, limiting them to just two hits, but the fifth inning proved to be the downfall for the Griffin starter. A leadoff walk and two singled loaded the bases with no one out. Schnelle then got a strikeout for the first out. Tampa then doubled and got a sacrifice fly to take a 3-0 lead.
Austin Sleek relieved Schnelle and got a strikeout to end the inning. The Griffins answered with two runs of their own in the sixth. After an out to leadoff the inning,
Taylor Schmidt singled.
Nick Sell followed with a double to put runners on second and third.
Josh Forbes then drew a walk to load the bases.
Cody Herald followed with an RBI single thru the left side of the infield.
Anthony Fanelli also singled to drive in a run and cut the lead to 3-2. Tampa got one of those runs back with an inside the park homer in the bottom of the sixth. The Spartans closed out the scoring with three runs in the eighth.
Brad Schnelle suffered the loss.

Anthony Fanelli each had two hits for the Griffins.
Seton Hill will take on Tiffin on Monday morning in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 9:15 AM.
