The Griffins and Limestone split a doubleheader on Saturday setting up Sunday's nine inning contest as the rubber game of the three game set. Limestone used a 6 run bottom of the sixth to erase a 4-3 Griffins lead and cruised to a 9-5 series clinching victory. The Griffins fall to 3-3 on the season.
Seton Hill was able to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. After two outs,
Nick Sell singled.
Josh Forbes was hit by a pitch and
Cody Herald singled in
Nick Sell to give SHU the 1-0 lead. Limestone took a 2-1 lead in the second with a two run home run. Limestone made it 3-1 with another run in the bottom of the third. The Griffins took a 4-3 lead in the top of the sixth. With one out, Forbes hit a solo home run.
Chris Miller then drew a walk and scored when
Brandon Jossey hit a two run homer. Limestone responded with 6 runs in their half of the sixth off of Griffin starter
Brett Sullivan. Forbes' RBI groundout in the ninth closed out the scoring.
Brett Sullivan suffered the loss, going 5 2/3 innings. He gave up all 9 runs on 8 hits. He struck out two and walked two.
Cody Herald was the lone Griffin with multiple hits, finishing with two.
The Griffins will be off until next Saturday when they will play nationally ranked Grand Valley State in Florida during their spring break trip.
