Seton Hill hosted West Liberty in a key regional doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. The Griffins took game one by the score of 3-2. SHU completed the sweep with a 5-0 victory in game two. SHU improves to 11-8 on the season.
The Griffins got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first. After an out,
Taylor Schmidt singled and scored when
Cody Herald doubled into the right center field gap. SHU added two more runs in the second, all after two outs.
Dan Abbenante started the rally with a single. He moved to third on a double by
Brendan Costantino. Schmidt then drove in both with a two RBI single to make the score 3-0. West Liberty got a run back in the top of the third to cut the lead to 3-1. West Liberty scored a run in the top of the seventh but
Jesse Cooper got the last out of the game to close it out.
Taylor Schmidt and
Cody Herald each had two hits.
Jordan Fuller earned the victory.
Jesse Cooper earned the save.
Seton Hill scored two runs in the bottom of the first of game two.
Brendan Costantino led off with a single and moved to second on a stolen base.
Brandon Jossey walked and they both stole another bag.
Cody Herald drove In a run with a sacrifice fly and Jossey scored on a wild pitch to give SHU a 2-0 lead. Costantino singled in another run to give SHU a 3-0 lead in the second inning. Jossey made it 4-0 with an RBI single in the sixth.
Nick Sell added another run with an RBI single.
Alex Haines earned the win with a scoreless inning with 3 strikeouts.
Brandon Wright earned a two inning save.
Seton Hill will open PSAC West play on Friday at Johnstown vs Pitt Johnostwn.
