Seton Hill split its final doubleheader of the spring break trip with Wayne State at Winter Haven, FL on Friday afternoon. The Griffins won game one by the score of 6-3 before falling by the score of 5-4 in game two. SHU is now 9-7 on the season.
The Griffins scored two runs in the bottom of the second of game one.
Cody Herald led off with a double and
Anthony Fanelli walked.
Matt Malacane then reached on a bunt single to load the bases.
Chris Miller then singled to drive in two runs. Wayne State cut the lead to 2-1 with a run in the third. SHU added four more in their half of the third.
Brendan Costantino doubled and scored when Herald doubled. Fanelli then singled in Herald. Malacane closed out the Griffin scoring with a two run homer. Wayne State scored one run in the fourth and one in the fifth.
Brad Schnelle earned the win in game one. Costantino, Herald and Malacane each had two hits.
Wayne State took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first of game two. Wayne State increased their lead to 4-0 in the third. The Griffins cut the lead in half in the fourth.

Matt Malacane hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run. Seton Hill tied the score with two runs in their last at bat.
Taylor Schmidt,
Anthony Fanelli and
Zac Heide each singled to load the bases. Schmidt scored when
Chris Miller reached on a fielders choice.
Brendan Costantino then doubled to drive in Fanelli to tie the score at 4. The Griffins had the go ahead runs at second and third with one out but a groundout and pop out ended the threat. Wayne State then walked off the Griffins with a run in the seventh. Costantino had three hits and Schmidt added two hits.
The Griffins will close out their spring trip with a single contest against Ohio Dominican.
