The Griffins made the long trip to Gaffney, SC to battle Limestone College in a three game set this weekend. SHU took the first game of Saturday's doubleheader by a 4-3 score. Limestone responded with a 13-3 victory in game two. SHU falls to 3-2 overall.
SHU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Brendan Costantino led off with a double, stole third and scored on an infield single from
Nick Sell. The Griffins increased the lead to 2-0 in the third when
Jesse Cooper scored on a RBI groundout from Sell. Limestone tied the score at two with two runs on three hits in their half of the third inning. Seton Hill took a 4-2 lead in the seventh. After two outs, Cooper drew a walk then stole second. He scored when Costantino homered to left, giving the Griffins a 4-2 lead. Limestone scored one in the eighth but
Mike Bittel got a 1-2-3 ninth to close out the contest.
Alex Haines earned his second win of the season, going 6 1/3 innings, giving up 2 runs on 8 hits and striking out four.
Mike Bittel earned the save by throwing the final 2 2/3 innings.
Brendan Costantino was the lone Griffin with multiple hits.
Limestone took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third of game two. The Griffins took the lead right back with two runs in the top of the fourth.
Brandon Jossey had an RBI double and
Garret Vrbanic followed with an RBI single. Limestone's offense busted out in the bottom of the fourth as they scored seven times to take an 8-2 lead.
Taylor Schmidt had three hits for the Griffins.
Brandon Jossey added two.
Seton Hill will close out the three game set on Sunday when they play Limestone in a nine game contest at noon.
