The Seton Hill basebal team opened their 2014 season with a road trip to Wilson, NC to battle Barton in a three game set. Seton Hill took the first game of the Saturday doubleheader by the score of 11-3 before being walked off in game two by the score of 5-4.
Seton Hill jumped out to a 4-0 lead by scoring 4 runs after two outs in the top of the first.
Nick Sell walked and
Josh Forbes,
Cody Herald,
Chris Miller and
Matt Malacane all followed with back to back to back to back RBI doubles. Barton then got one back in the bottom of the first. SHU added two more runs in the top of the third thanks to a pair of Barton errors.
Jesse Cooper and Sell each had RBI singles in the fourth to extend the lead to 8-1. Sell then homered to lead of the seventh to give SHU a 9-2 lead. Sell followed that up with a leadoff homer in the top of the ninth. Miller added another RBI double to give SHU a 11-2 lead in the ninth.
Sell led the Griffin offense going 4-4 with the two homers and 3 RBI.

Matt Malacane each had two hits.
Alex Haines earned the win, going 8 inning. He gave up two runs on five hits and struck out three.
Barton took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Seton Hill then responded with a four spot in the top of the third.
Dan Abbenante scored on a throwing error to tie the score at one.
Taylor Schmidt gave the Griffins a 2-1 lead with a RBI single.
Nick Sell followed with an RBI double and
Josh Forbes closed out the scoring with a RBI single in the third. The score stayed 4-2 into the bottom of the seventh inning when Barton walked off the Griffins scoring three runs on four hits.
Brad Schnelle went 5 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits.
Jordan Fuller suffered the loss.
Brendan Costantino was the lone Griffin with two hits in the contest.
SHU will close out the three game set when they play a 9 inning contest on Sunday.
