Griffins Rally for Road Victory at UPJ

The Griffins made the short trip up to Johnstown, PA to take on the Mountain Cats in PSAC West action on Saturday afternoon.  Seton Hill rallied to take a 74-70 victory.  SHU improves to 15-9 overall and 7-7 in PSAC West play. 
 
UPJ took an early 13-7 lead at the first media timeout.  Five points from Oliver McGlade cut the Mountain Cat lead to 19-12 at the 13:00 minute mark.  UPJ scored the next four points forcing a SHU timeout.  Noah Davis scored the next four points to cut the lead to 23-16.  UPJ was able to push the lead back to 29-19.  Nate Perry drained a three pointer at the end of the first half to cut the lead to 37-28 at the break.  Perry leads the Griffins with 7. 
 
SHU scored the first six points of the second half to trim the lead to 37-34.  David Windsor's layup cut the lead back to three at 41-38 at the under 16 media timeout.  Oliver McGlade hit a three pointer and Nate Perry followed with a driving layup to cut the lead to 45-43 forcing a UPJ timeout at the 13:43 mark of the second half.  McGlade's three pointer gave the Griffins their first lead of the half at 51-49 with nine minutes to play.  Back to back buckets from Windsor and a three pointer from Perry pushed the lead to 60-52.  Noah Davis then hit a jumper and followed with a three to give the Griffins their biggest lead of the game at 65-52 with 5:10 to play.  UPJ answered with a 9-2 run to cut the lead to 67-61 with less than three minutes to play.  The Mountain Cats trimmed the lead to 67-66 on a three pointer with one minute to play.  Perry answered with a floater to extend the lead to 69-66 with 50 seconds to play.  After a UPJ turnover, Kameron Taylor hit both ends of a 1 and 1 to push the lead to 71-66 with 36 seconds left.  Perry also hit both ends of the 1 and 1 to give SHU the 73-68 lead with 19 seconds to play. 
 
Nate Perry led the Griffins with 21 points.  Oliver McGlade added 13 points.  Kameron Taylor finished with 12 points and David Windsor was the fourth Griffin in double figures with 11 points.
 
Seton Hill will host Slippery Rock next Saturday for Senior Day.  Tip is set for 1 PM.
