Greensburg, PA- Seton Hill hosted Washington and Jefferson in their first dual match of the season on Thursday evening. The Griffins defeated the Presidents by the score of 23-12 to improve to 1-0 on the dual match season.
The match started with the heavyweight bout.
Alex Soutiere was defeated by Yamil Cristobal-Perez in overtime by the score of 6-5 to give W&J a 3-0 lead. Seton Hill took the lead back 6-3 in the 125 pound match as
Mike Soria continued his hot wrestling with a pinfall in the sixth minute of the match. W&J tied the match at 6 in the 133 pounds as Jacob Spearman defeated Colin Dees by the score of 7-3. SHU took a 10-6 lead in the match with a 11-3 major decision victory by Pat Owens at 141 pounds. The Griffins extended their lead to 13-6 at the 149 pound weight class with a 4-3 decision victory by
Tanner Druck.
Zach Voytek increased the Griffins lead in the match to 16-6 with a 1-0 decision at 157 pounds. The Presidents trimmed the lead to 16-9 with a 5-3 overtime win by
Nick Carr over
Ryan Walters at 165 pounds.
Brett Smith secured a major decision victory (14-0) at 174 pounds to increase the Griffins lead to 20-9.
Dalton Rosta picked up a 7-6 decision on riding time at 184 pounds to increase the Griffins lead to 23-9. Washington and Jefferson won the last match of the evening by a 2-1 score to complete the evening.
Seton Hill will compete in the Mount Union Invitational this Saturday, November 15th.
