Seton Hill made the short trip to California (PA) for a PSAC West battle on Saturday afternoon. The Griffins came away with a 56-46 victory. SHU improves to 12-6 overall and 4-4 in PSAC West play.
Cal jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead. SHU answered with a 7-0 run on a three by
Oliver McGlade, and baskets from
David Windsor and
Max Kenyi. SHU extended its lead to 15-12 on a dunk from
Nebojsa Stanojevic at the 12 minute mark. Kenyi's three point play gave SHU a 21-18 lead at the under 8 media timeout. SHU then went on a 6-0 run to push the lead to 27-18.
Kameron Taylor scored four of the six points during the run. The Griffins took a 34-24 lead into the halftime break. Kenyi led the Griffins with 10 points.
Cal came out of the gate on a 5-1 run to trim the lead to 35-29 at the under 16 media timeout.
Malachi Leonard made the first Griffin field goal of the half at the 12:35 mark to give SHU a 37-31 lead. A three point play from
Max Kenyi extended the lead to 42-35 with 9:13 to play with the half. Cal cut the lead to 43-41 with 6:33 to play. Five free throws extended the lead to 48-43 for the Griffins with 5 minutes to play.
Noah Davis hit a jumper from the free throw line to give SHU a 50-45 lead with 2:45 to play.
David Windsor's driving layin pushed the lead to 54-46 with just under a minute to play.
Max Kenyi led the Griffins with 18 points.
Malachi Leonard followed with 12 points.
Seton Hill will host Mercyhurst on Wednesday evening in a PSAC West contest.
