The Griffin field hockey team hosted Mercyhurst on Wednesday afternoon and recorded a 3-0 shutout victory.  SHU scored one goal before the halftime break and added two more goals in the second half.  With the victory, the Griffins improve to 2-3 overall on the season. 

The Griffins took a 1-0 lead when two freshmen recorded their first collegiate points.  Jaydyn Morrison connected on her first goal with an assist from Emily Hutsko.  The goal came with 6:24 to play in the first half.  The rest of the first half was scoreless and the teams entered the halftime break with the Griffins leading 1-0.  SHU extended its lead to 2-0 with a goal midway thru the second half.  McDonough Scanlon scored off an assist from Lauren Schumacher with 17:10 to play in the second half.  Lauren Mariano closed out the scoring with a goal with 4:56 to play in the game.  Melayna Currie assisted on the goal.  Autumn Reid recorded 9 saves in net for the shutout.

Seton Hill will travel to Bellarmine on Saturday afternoon.
