Griffins Advance to Regional Title Game with 12-2 Victory over Millersville

Seton Hill continued play in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional at Wake Forest's Gene Hooks Field on Saturday evening.  The Griffins battled PSAC East champion and number one seed Millersville in an elimination game for the Marauders.  The Griffins broke open a close game with 8 runs in their final two at bats to eliminate the number one seed Millersville by a score of 12-2.  SHU improves to 42-15.   
 
Seton Hill scored a run in the bottom of the second.  Mike Cima was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.  Josh Forbes then singled and moved up on an error to put runners on second and third.  Cody Herald was hit by a pitch and Jackson Boyd knocked in a run with a fielders choice to give SHU a 1-0 lead.  SHU pushed their lead to 4-0 thanks to 5 hit batters and 1 walk in the bottom of the fifth. 
 
Millersville cut the lead to 4-2 with a two run homer in the top of the seventh.  The Griffins got those two runs right back in the bottom of the seventh.  Pat McCarthy singled to lead off the inning and stole second base.  Cima was hit by another pitch.  Josh Forbes then drove in McCarthy and Cima scored on an error by Millersville to give SHU a 6-2 lead.  Brandon Jossey came thru with an RBI single to increase the lead to 7-2.  Nick Sell sent one deep into the Winston Salem night in the eight and increased the lead to 8-2.  Boyd was then hit by a pitch, the 11th Griffin of the game to force in a run and increase the lead to 9-2.  Ryan Hayden then drove in another run with a single to make the score 10-2.  An infield single by Brendan Costantino pushed the lead to 11-2.  McCarthy picked up another RBI on a bases loaded walk.
 
Bob Carbaugh earned the victory on the mound.  Jordan Fuller came on in relief of Carbaugh and got a big third out in the seventh inning and closed the door with two more scoreless innings to earn the save.  Josh Forbes led the Griffins with 3 hits.     
The Griffins will need one victory over Shippensburg in tomorrow's championship round to claim the regional title.   Game time is set for 12 PM.
