Seton Hill continued play in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional at Wake Forest's Gene Hooks Field on Friday evening. The Griffins battled PSAC champion East Stroudsburg in a battle of 1-0 teams. An hour and a half rain delay couldn't stop the Griffins baseball team as they advanced to 2-0 in the regional with a 9-3 victory over East Stroudsburg. The Griffins are the lone undefeated team in the regional. SHU improved to 41-15 overall.
The Griffins took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. After an out
Pat McCarthy doubled, he stole third base and scored on a RBI groundout from
Nick Sell. SHU extended the lead to 2-0 in the second.
Jackson Boyd singled with one out. He moved to second on a sacrifice bunt.
Dan Abbenante then came thru with a two out RBI single. The Griffins continued to add on in the third.
Brendan Costantino and McCarthy singled to start off the inning.
Mike Cima then doubled in a run to give the Griffins a 3-0 lead in the top of the third.
SHU continued to score in the fourth inning. Abbenante registered his second hit of the contest with a double. He scored when
Brad Comport hit a bomb to left center field off the light pole. The Griffins made it 6-0 when Sell reached on an error.
After a 1 hour and 20 minute lightning delay before the bottom of the fourth, East Stroudsburg scored twice to trim the lead to 6-2 after four innings. SHU answered in the top of the sixth. Comport led off with a walk and moved to third when McCarthy doubled. Sell then singled in Comport to extend the lead to 7-2.
ESU got one in the seventh but left the bases loaded.
Brad Schnelle came on to throw one pitch and get the Griffins out of the inning. Cima added on in the eighth inning with a two RBI double to push the lead to 9-3.
Brett Sullivan earned the victory, going 5 1/3 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits.
Brad Schnelle earned the save. He threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings.
Pat McCarthy was 5-5 with 3 runs scored.

Dan Abbenante each had two hits.
The Griffins will face the winner of the 11 AM game at 6 PM on Saturday. Millersville will battle East Stroudsburg in the elimination game.
