Seton Hill hosted Ohio Valley in a WVIAC doubleheader on a cloudy and snowy Thursday afternoon. SHU rallied from an early 3-0 deficit and took home a 6-3 victory in game one. SHU claimed the sweep with an 8-3 win in game two. SHU improves to 19-5 overall and 12-2 in WVIAC play.
Ohio Valley batted around in the top of the first and took a 3-0 early lead. SHU got two runs back in the second.
Jackson Boyd ledoff with a walk, stole second and scored on a
Jeff Simon single.
Jesse Cooper then made it 3-2 with an RBI double.
Pat McCarthy drew a bases loaded walk in the fourth to tie the score at three.
Seton Hill batted around in the fifth, scoring three runs to take a 6-3 lead. Simon and
Cody Herald each doubled in the inning.
Jordan Fuller earned the victory in relief. He threw 6 scoreless innings, giving up 4 hits and striking out two.
Pat McCarthy and
Jeff Simon each had two hits in the win.
Cody Herald gave the Griffins a 1-0 lead in the second with a leadoff solo homer to left.
Ryan Hayden then doubled and scored when
Zac Heide singled. OVU got a run back in the top of the third to cut the lead to 2-1. SHU added three in the third.
Jesse Cooper's two run double was the key hit.
Ohio Valley hit a two run homer in the fourth to cut the lead to 5-3. Herald added an RBI groundout in the fifth to push the lead back to 6-3. Heide increased the lead to 7-3 with a solo shot to left. Herald hit a leadoff homer in the sixth to increase the lead to 8-3.
Seton Hill will travel Johnstown on Friday and Saturday for a three game WVIAC set.
