Griffins Sweep Alderson Broaddus

The Griffins game scheduled to be played at Alderson Broaddus was moved to Seton Hill and changed to a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.  Seton Hill took game one by a 12-7 score.  SHU completed the sweep with a 13-2 win in game two.  The Griffins  improve to 13-4 overall.    
 
Seton Hill was the road team in game one and jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first.  Brendan Costantino reached on an error to start the game.  Pat McCarthy was then hit by a pitch.  After a strikeout, Nick Sell doubled in a run and Jackson Boyd singled in two more to make it 3-0.  AB answered with three in their half of the first to tie the score.  SHU scored two more in their half of the second on a RBI single by McCarthy and a sac fly from Mike CimaJosh Forbes added another Griffin run in the third with a RBI single.  Boyd drove in two more in the fourth to give the Griffins an 8-3 lead. 
 
SHU added on in the sixth.  Sell grounded out to score McCarthy who doubled to lead off the inning.  McCarthy and Cima each drove in a run in the seventh to increase the lead to 11-3.  AB cut the lead to 11-7 with 4 runs in the seventh.   McCarthy drove in another run in the ninth with a double to push the lead to 12-7. 
 
Brett Sullivan earned the win in game one.   Pat McCarthy led the Griffins with 3 hits. 
 
Seton Hill took a 1-0 lead in game two in the first inning.  Ryan Hayden led off with a single and moved to third on a wild pitch and passed ball before scoring on a RBI groundout from Pat McCarthyBrad Comport extended the lead to 2-0 in the second with a run scoring single. Comport then scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-0.  The Griffins added on in the third with a sac fly from Jesse Cooper.
 
Seton Hill increased the lead to 8-0 with 4 runs in the fourth.  AB got two back in the top of the fifth.  Dan Abbenante hit a sac fly to score Zach Heide, who doubled to increase the lead to 9-2 in the fifth.  Five straight hits scored four runs in the sixth to increase the lead to 13-2. 
 
Seton Hill will travel to Charleston on Wednesday.
