Tony Morocco has to be happy with his team. Seton Hill won their fourth straight to close out the regular season following an 86-80 victory over Pitt Johnstown. The Griffins improve to 15-11 overall and 12-10 in WVIAC play.
UPJ led for the first 14 minutes of the contest, with their lead extending to 5 points. The Griffins took their first lead of the contest at 34-33 on a layin from
Kameron Taylor with 3:21 to play in the first. SHU was able to extend their lead to four after a three pointer from
Oliver McGlade with just over a minute to play in the first half. UPJ scored 5 straight before another McGlade bomb gave the Griffins a 42-40 halftime lead.
Seton Hill held the lead for the first minute of the second half before UPJ retook the lead. The Mountain Cats either led or were tied from the 18 minute mark to the 10 minute mark when
Malachi Leonard gave the Griffins a 62-61 lead. An Ozzie Bjelogrlic three pushed the Griffins lead to 6 with just over 9 minutes to play. UPJ battled back to tie the score at 69 with 7:41 to play. Neither team could build more than a three point lead. Leonard gave the Griffins a three point lead with a three point play with just over two minutes to play. A three point play from
David Windsor extended the lead to 4 with just under a minute to play. SHU closed out the contest by hitting 5 of 6 free throws.
Malachi Leonard led the Griffins with 25 points.
Oliver McGlade added 14 points.
Ozren Bjelogrlic tossed in 13 and
David Windsor was the fourth Griffin in double figures with 12.
Seton Hill earned the seventh seed in the WVIAC and will battle number 10 seed WV Wesleyan on Tuesday evening at 7 PM in the first round of the WVIAC Tournament. With a victory on Tuesday the Griffins will advance to Charleston where they would play at 3 PM on Thursday afternoon.
