Griffins Fall 3-1 at Slippery Rock

The Griffins made the short trip up Interstate 79 to Slippery Rock, PA to battle the Rock in a PSAC matchup on Friday afternoon.  The Rock scored twice in the first half off of penalty corners in route to a 3-1 victory.  With the loss, the Griffins fall to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in PSAC play.
 
Neither team was able to muster up much offense in the game's first 20 minutes with each team having just a few shots.  The Rock was finally able to get on the scoreboard in the 25th minute when they scored off a shot from the top of the circle off a penalty corner.  SRU made it 2-0 with another goal off a penalty corner with just over 5 minutes to play in the first half. 
 
Just under 10 minutes into the second half, the Rock made it 3-0 with another goal scored off a corner on a rebound opportunity.  The Griffins were able to trim the lead to 3-1 with a goal less than two minutes later when Ashley Reid connected on a one timer from Natasha Nichols. 
 
The Griffins will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Mercyhurst.
