Field Hockey Opens Season with 6-1 Road Win

Box Score The Griffin field hockey team opened their 2012 season with a road victory at American International on Saturday afternoon.  Seton Hill scored three goals in each half in route to a 6-1 victory.

Brittany Davis got the Griffins on the board just over 5 minutes into the contest.  Davis added her second goal of the game at the 7:39 mark to give the Griffins a 2-0 lead.  American International cut the lead to 2-1 on a penalty stroke in the game's 25th minute.  Joanna Pichardo made it 3-1 with a goal before the halftime break.  Davis assisted on the goal.  Rebecca Portillo made 6 saves in net in the first half. 

Lauren Mariano scored off a penalty corner 15 minutes into the second half to increase the lead to 4-1.  Lauren Schumacher made it 5-1 with 15 minutes to play in the second half and Ashley Reid closed out the scoring for the Griffins.  Autumn Reid played the second half in goal and recorded 4 saves.

The Griffins will look to make it two in a row on Sunday when they battle Assumption.
