Griffins Fall in Senior Day Shootout

Box Score  The Griffins final home game of the 2012 season will be one for the record books as many offensive records were broken by each team.  St Anselm was able to outscore the Griffins 52-45 to send the Griffins to 0-10 on the season.  Seton Hill set a new single game record for today offense with 641 yards.  Andrew Jackson also set two single game records with 38 completions and 543 passing yards.  Jackson also connected with Lance Williams on a 93 yard touchdown pass, setting a new game record.

The game started off slow as each team was only able to find the endzone once in the first quarter.  Tavin Dais scored from 31 yards out to tie the game at 7 with 3:33 to play in the first.  SHU took a 13-7 lead with 11:47 left in the second when Andrew Jackson hit Lance Williams and he raced for a 93 yard touchdown.  St Anselm cut the lead to 13-10 with a 33 yard field goal.  Jackson then hit DJ Carter with a 62 yard reception to increase the SHU lead to 20-10 with 7:53 left in the half.  The Hawks scored the next two touchdowns to take a 24-20 lead with 2:01 left.  SHU then went 67 yards in 10 plays, with Jackson hitting Mike Allen on a slant play for a 10 yard TD with 14 seconds to play to give the Griffins a 27-24 lead at the halftime break. 

St Anselm came out firing out of the halftime break and scored twice on two 30 yard touchdown passes and took a 38-27 lead with 8:52 to play in the third.  Derrick Dyer scored from one yard out with 6:32 left in the third and SHU trailed by 3 at 38-35 with 6:32 left in the third.  The Hawks closed out the scoring in the third quarter and started the scoring in the fourth quarter with a pair of touchdowns to lead 52-35.  Jackson threw his fourth touchdown pass of the contest to Sean Kelley from two yards out and the Griffins cut the lead to 10 with 10:05 remaining.  Josh Cavalier then hit from 30 yards out to cut the lead to 52-45 with 6:59 left in the contest.  The Griffin defense then forced the Hawks to punt and took over at their own 7 yard line with 4:52 to play.  The Griffins were able to drive to their own 42 before a fumble ended the drive.  St Anselm was able to convert two third downs and run out the clock.

Andrew Jackson was 38-63 for 543 yards and 4 TD.  DJ Carter pulled down 12 receptions for 171 yards and a touchdown.  Niko Hall-Brown added 9 receptions for 111 yards.  Josh Falatovich led the defense with 17 tackles.  Xavier Perez-Coley added 16 tackles while Rodney McMath had 14 including 3 tackles for loss.

Seton Hill will close out the regular season next Saturday when they travel to Glenville State.
